That sucks.
Maybe try uninstalling it (& manually removing all registry entries too)...

Then re-install it and try this:

1. Open the Avast user interface by double-clicking on the Avast icon in your system tray.

2. Click on the "Menu" button in the top-right corner of the screen and select "Settings".

3. In the left-hand pane of the Settings window, click on "Privacy".

4. In the "Privacy" section, you will see an option called "Participation". Click on the "Change" button next to this option.

5. In the "Participation" window that appears, you can toggle the switch next to "Participate in data sharing" to the "Off" position. This is supposed to prevent Avast from sending telemetry data, like checking licenses.
