HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any
format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs.

Supported Input Sources:
Handbrake can process most common multimedia files and any DVD or BluRay
sources that do not contain any kind of copy protection.
Outputs:
File Containers: .MP4(.M4V) and .MKV
Video Encoders: H.265 (x265 and QuickSync), H.264(x264 and QuickSync)
H.265 MPEG-4 and MPEG-2, VP8, VP9 and Theora
Audio Encoders: AAC / HE-AAC, MP3, Flac, AC3, or Vorbis
Audio Pass-thru: AC-3, E-AC3, DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD, AAC and MP3 tracks
Extract images and install.
System requirements
Hardware
The following is the minimum level of hardware that HandBrake supports.
While it may be technically possible to run HandBrake on hardware older
than this, it is neither recommended nor supported.
Linux
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon X2, or better
Free Memory:
512 MB for transcoding standard definition video
1.5 GB for transcoding high definition video
4 GB or more for transcoding 4K video
Screen Resolution: 1024x768 or better
System Storage:
50 MB for the HandBrake app
2 GB or more recommended for processing and storing your new videos
Mac
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or better
32-bit Intel Macs (2007 and earlier) cannot run recent 64-bit HandBrake releases
2010 models and newer are recommended, as older Macs are often quite slow for processing video
Free Memory:
512 MB for transcoding standard definition video
1.5 GB for transcoding high definition video
4 GB or more for transcoding 4K video
Screen Resolution: 1024x768 or better
System Storage:
50 MB for the HandBrake app
2 GB or more recommended for processing and storing your new videos
