Help, Afraid From Losing Data

hello, i'm new for clean install/upgrade OS stuff.
currently i'm on windows 7 64bit and i want to try some Windows 10 custom OS that posted here.
i have two partition in one HDD, Drive C for system, and Drive D for Data.
and i'm planning to change it back to Win 7 if i don't really like the Win 10.

so i want to make sure, if i clean install my laptop from Win 7 to Win 10 custom OS, will my data on Drive D be okay?
and if i want to change it back from Win 10 to Win 7 will my data on Drive D be okay too?

Make a folder on your desktop and collect everything you want to keep then copy this file into a usb stick/external hard disk and then you can format your laptop.If you have never done it again search google and see tutorials/videos in order not to fail.The better thing is to visit a specialist.

if you have partitions then yes all your data will be safe on partition D

just make sure you install windows on partition C

thank you, so even if i just have one HDD it's still safe, as long as i install it on partition C?
i've seen some video/tutorial online, but their have more than 1 HDD, since i only have 1 HDD, i'm kinda thinking about it.

If you install windows only at C yes its safe to format your laptop but CAREFULL dont do anything at 2nd partition.

thank you for the reply, but unfortunately i only have small GB of External HDD, so i only can backup my data on C drive.
since @Hawkeye already said it's safe, so i think it is safe, right?
