Windows Server 2022 is the next release in the long term maintenance channel.

It introduces advanced layered security, hybrid capabilities with Azure, and a flexible application platform.
Additional information: As part of this release, Windows Server receives secure core capabilities to protect systems that will run workloads on Windows Server 2022. Secure Server is based on technologies such as Windows Defender System Guard and Security-Based Virtualization to minimize the risk of firmware vulnerabilities and advanced malware. The new release also provides reliable connectivity by introducing several new features such as faster and more secure encrypted HTTPS connections and industry-standard AES 256 SMB encryption. Windows Server 2022 improves hybrid server management and has enhanced event viewing and many other new features in the Windows Admin Center . Windows Server 2022 LTSC
Support Standard support for Windows Server 2022 LTSC will continue until 10/13/2026 and Extended Support will continue until 10/14/2031.
Advanced Layered Security
Microsoft's primary focus is on layered security. Not without reason in the help center it is first about the improvements in it, but only after about other technological innovations.
Secured-core server
A few years ago, this initiative began to be applied to the PC, providing improved protection against malicious code at the firmware level of the device.
Core principle: simplified security, advanced protection and preventive protection. You can enable secure secure core features in the Windows Admin Center.

You no longer need to reboot Azure VMs after installation, this is done through the Hotpatch feature.
Briefly about other innovations
Improved compatibility with Windows containers using Kubernetes: reduced container image size by 40%, reduced startup by 30%, and improved performance.
With support for Intel Ice Lake processors, Windows Server 2022 can host heavy-duty solutions like SQL Server that require up to 48TB of memory and 2048 logical cores running on 64 physical sockets.
Nested Virtualization for AMD Processors: An even larger pool of environment hardware can now be used.
SMB Compression: Users and applications no longer need to manually compress ZIP files during transfer, everything happens automatically.
Instead of a browser, Microsoft Edge is used to load Internet Explorer browsers. It is based on open source Chromium.

Thanks for this, and this is just what i need, i cant get to grips with truenas or openmediavault. i have brain damage so that doesnt help. can anyone point me in the right direction of how to set this up please. just need a simple nas, my PC & 2 laptops can access. one of which is on linux mint

what a fantastic share. i love networking and server o/s's. i don't us windows 10/11 for my work. yes, i understand them, but nothing compares to using server software for what ever your needs may be. try running multiple apps., at the same time, and you will quickly see what i mean. current o/s is server 2019. thanks again ;--]]

HELP!! HELLO!! I try to install the datacenter Desktop version but its requiring an Admin password; i cant install it?? For install this version on my HP-laptop i ve to edit the ISO file?? I can even install the Standard edition without an admin pass?? Or can someone tell my what file edit in the ISO for put an password in the Datacenter version??
Dont wanna use Windows Server Console Version.

blackout_11. what o/s are you running now?. datacenter is mainly driven by virtual servers with a lot of power?. Standard suites most requirements?. The only thing stopping you is a datacenter license, about $5000+. if you need help ask me. in all my years of experience, i have only needed to install datacenter for a few times. my question is this. why datacenter?. what kind of hardware are you packing?. I will drop by soon, just to see how you are doing.... ;--]]
