So being a keen retro gamer I am interested in the 86box project. Virtualise old pentiums? lovely. All went well until I tried to run a (not very demanding) title, Star Trek Armada. The output reminded me of the old CGA days before VGA graphics was a thing. Now I get that emulation is a hugely complex issue but why such poor 3d performance even on a ryzen 5950x? 2d was perfectly fine. I am only presume that the game in question did some direct X hacks or maybe its just a case of the 3d side of things is not very advanced yet.
So back to my old dell win98 box for me until such time as this improves. I have also tried unraid but well the VM performance is less than stellar
