Kindly advice if I posted on the wrong part of the forum.

I was planning on setting up a home voip where it goes like this...

landline -- PC with modem with voip software to control the calls -- network -- android app to use the voip

I am still researching on what software usable for this personal project of mine.

Playing a little with VoIP 10+ years ago. Don't know the answer, you have to look in voip tech forums, if still exists and are up to date. Oh, I remember. I used Ubuntu + Asterisk + FreePBX. Also you can try Elastix. Also you can search for free and paid hosted pbxes. But just for personal use doesn't make sense imo. Check progx ch/PROGX_WEB/UK/comparator.awp. (You have to put a period before ch, forum rules). Or search Google for "best Dellmont voip rates" or something like this. But I think my link is the best, despite it's not so good look. Dellmont is a VoIP company with 60+ clones (yes, is the same company behind all those websites/apps!) and best prices, even almost free for most destinations. You have to install a SIP client on you Android. If you want to learn or make a bussiness it's ok. But for personal use think twice, time has changed, there is also the free WhatsApp etc. PS: I remember NCH had a PBX for Windows. There are others, mostly paid, solutions. Linux distros, like AsteriskNOW. Good luck! PS2: Kepp in mind that a good VoIP PBX and softphones needs a stable internet connection without big latencies and packet loss. Chances are that if you use the same Internet provider/network for p2p the calls quality will be affected even if you have enough speed and use qos. That's why a cloud service is preferable these days imo.

Thanks for the insight. As I said that this is a personal or home setup so the range of the service is in the intranet only. Will play with the info you gave.

I installed Ubuntu and FreePBX using terminal instructions found on Google, I didn't remember the site. And works! I had almost zero knowledge of Linux...
