You need to ask HP or some bios hacking forum as that laptop is a business laptop, so removing the batteries wont work.

1. You have to reveive the smc.bin from HP support team and do the process according the support team.

2. You have to erase the bios rom file and write the new bios rom file into it.

to do that

1.Save smc.bin you`ve got from HP support to the root of a USB thumb drive “(or save the file to the root of drive HP_TOOLS)” -- I used a USB drive, btw... look to have enough power in battery, or put acdc adapter to some UPS

  1. Power the laptop off
  2. Hold down Windows key + up arrow + down arrow and power the laptop on
  3. Let go of the keys at the HP splashscreen
  4. Press F10 repeatedly at the screen that shows up with "SMC command handled successfully"
  5. This should bring you into the BIOS where you need to choose “Reset BIOS security to factory default” and confirm by choosing yes
  6. Exit the BIOS, saving changes
  7. When the laptop reboots, you will see the coveted prompt to clear the TPM, which is shown below.
  8. Press F1
  9. When the laptop reboots, the BIOS password is gone

@gopy1 this will always work, irrespective of the bios status. At least in all HP based models manufactured till 2018-2019. Post that I am not fully aware, though in principal should work. How to remove CMOS Battery, would depend from model to model. Hope you get it sorted soon. ?

Removing the battery will not reset the bios in Hp Laptops(modern ones) early 2000's sometimes but rarely. There are two ways well three or four but 2 practical ways..1.. Fantom nailed. This is primarily to recover from SMC security lock caused by many reasons. and the second way is....PM me and Ill have it reset in 10 min... maybe 5 depending on how generous your review is..... lol Jimmy

HP Elite laptop bios is not re-settable by taking cmos battery out. you will have to get "HP Sparekey" utility to reset it. Just google it on how to do it they will give you instructions to do so.
