Hello, May I request a more current chess program? Battle Chess 3D will do in a pinch
but I'm an old school chess player and would like to play in a more "normal" environment
if possible. Thank you.

It's unfathomable that you don't already haunt chess . com but stranger things have happened. It was surreal at first, that I could play a game of chess with someone in Russia! who was a grand master, at any time of day or night. And there's a practice section also, because if you swim with the chess sharks right away, DOWN goes your chess rating! But as I got older, I realized chess was yet another sinkhole for life. I then looked up from the board and saw real LIFE. Oddly enough, the song "One Night in Bangkok," says it well: one town's like another when your head's down over your pieces brother!"

I play on the USCF (United States Chess Federation) website. I'm looking for a chess game for my laptop.
