TORRENT GUIDE ( August 2023 update )

Before you start, make sure that you have read our guidance and rules for uploading here
When you have all necessary files for your upload in an archive file, or in a folder, you can make your torrent file.
HOW TO MAKE A TORRENT FILE WITH QBITTORRENT
You can use any version of qBittorrent but it is probably better to use a recent one.This is how to make your new torrent file:
1) Open "Torrent Creator" from the "Tools" menu.
2) If your upload is a single file then click the "Select file" button. Then find and select the file you want to upload and click the "Open" button.
3) If your upload is a folder then click the "Select folder" button. Then find and select the folder you want to upload and click the "Open" button.
4) Set "Piece size" to "Auto".
5) Select the "Private torrent" option.
6) Deselect the "Start seeding immediately" option.
7) It is not necessary to put anything in the "Tracker URLs" box.
8) Click the "Create torrent" button. Choose a location for the .torrent file and click "Save".
9) Close the "Torrent Creator" window.
Optional
If you want to check that your torrent contains the correct files:-1) Open your new .torrent file it with the "Add torrent file" option in the "Files menu".
2) Make sure that "Save at" points to your file or folder.
3) Deselect "Start torrent" and click "OK".
4) Your new torrent should appear in qBittorents's torrent list.
5) Select it and then right-click it. Click "Force recheck".
6) If all is well then "Status" will changed to "Completed".
7) Look at the lower "Content" window to check that your torrent includes the correct files.
8) IMPORTANT You will not be using this torrent entry for your upload so remove it from the torrent list.
9) IMPORTANT Check that "Also permanently delete the files" is NOT selected before you click "Remove".
HOW TO MAKE A TORRENT FILE WITH UTORRENT
Some newer versions of uTorrent cause problems so we recommend older ones.Version 2.2.1 is reliable. Get it here

This is how to make your new torrent file:
1) Click "Create New Torrent" in the "File" menu.
2) If your upload is a single file then click the "Add file" button. Then find and select the file you want to upload and click the "Open" button.
3) If your upload is a folder then click the "Add directory" button. Then find and select the folder you want to upload and click the "Open" button.
4) Set "Piece size" to "auto detect".
5) Select the "Private torrent" option.
6) Deselect the "Start seeding" option.
7) Type "https://my.teamos.xyz/announce" into the "Trackers" box.
8) Click the "Create and save as" button. Choose a location for the .torrent file and click "Save".
9) Close the "Create New Torrent" window.
Optional
If you want to check that your torrent contains the correct files:-1) Open your new .torrent file it with the "Add torrent" option in the "Files menu".
2) Make sure that "Save as" points to your file or folder.
3) Deselect "Start torrent" and "Skip hash check", then click "OK".
4) Your new torrent should appear in uTorrent's torrent list.
5) Select it and then right-click it. Click "Force recheck".
6) If all is well then "Status" will changed to "Finished".
7) Look at the lower "Files" window to check that your torrent includes the correct files.
CREATING YOUR UPLOAD THREAD
1) Go to the forum where you want to upload.2) Click the green "Post thread" button.
3) If you do not see the button then either
- You do not have permission to upload torrents. (Only members with uploader rank can upload torrents)
- Or torrent uploads are not allowed in the selected forum
4) Type a thread title.
5) Put your thread description in the "Discussion" box.
6) Make sure that "Watch this thread" and "Unlocked" are both selected.
7) Tags are optional. Enter some if you like.
8) Set the thread prefix to "Torrent", or to "Torrent & Direct" if you also intend to provide a direct download link.
9) IMPORTANT Add a link to your virus scan. You must do this.
10) Click "Attach files".
11) Find your new .torrent file, select it, and click "Open".
12) Click "Post thread".
START SEEDING FROM YOUR CLIENT
1) On your new thread, click on the green torrent link to open the torrent in your torrent client.2) The torrent that you get will include the tracker URLs that you need to start seeding.
3) Make sure that "Save at" points to the location of your upload files.
4) You can now start seeding.
5) You can check that you really are seeding by looking at the "Trackers" pane in your client.
- If all is well then you should see "Working" next to the TeamOS tracker URL.
- If you see anything other than "Working" then you are not seeding.
6) If your upload is more than 5GB then you can request that is made freeleech.
7) If you are using qBittorrent then you may see something like this:
This appears because qBittorrent will not allow you to alter the trackers in a private torrent.
Find your torrent in the transfer list and remove it, WITHOUT deleting the files.
Then try adding your new torrent to qBittorrent again.
