You should use something like Wize Uninstaller or Smarty Uninstaller so it removes absolutely EVERYTYTHING with the program including any backed up settings and registry settings that way its like your pc never had it installed what so ever.

I uninstalled endpoint and reinstalled it thinking it would fix it and forgot to run a uninstaller when I removed it either way I got update failed with the old one and I was planning to uninstall it entirely for another software with endpoint security but saw your concern and remembered this one step that I usually do for clients when I go out on a call I am a freelance tech and do a lot of removing of software and reinstalling for clients that mess up settings.

And for those still having trouble make sure you download and import the updated xml file in the Download section. (The one in the torrent is the old one and will not work anymore)
