To prevent asking the same questions over and over and over again and annoying FBConan, Charlie_Grimes, and the rest of us users who have no problems, I have collated the common questions in this thread as well as the accompanying answers apart from mine to make it easier for everyone who might have questions/issues with this build, including observations and reports by the users of this build.
But first, the most important question:
Is this build updateable?
FBConan answered it in the description. Mods and admins have reiterated it in posts. Even regular thread posters who have no responsibility to handhold and spoonfeed each individual who can't be bothered enough to read have answered it.
NO. If you wan't something updateable, find something else. Plain and simple.
Anyway:
2) Does this work in a VM?
As it says in the description, this compact OS will run in a VM. I just loaded the pro version in VirtualBox.
My only complaint is that it starts in the wrong time zone.
Hello, just spent the night shift here testing your build (all you've posted) for running in VMWare 16.1 on our new customized laptop... All your included apps worked flawlessly and we are very impressed as we anticipated issues but none occurred AT ALL.
3) Can it be used for all adobe products like premiere pro, after effect, illust etc?
It should function as a regular Windows build provided the required net/vc frameworks or video drivers needed by your apps are installed. I can at least answer that Photoshop CC and Photoshop 2021 works.
4) Are some of the requested features such as Paint 3d or WMP uninstallable?
5) Can I still use this on my desktop PC?
This build doesn't ignore laptop-specific features, and laptops are much choosier than desktops so yes.
6) There is always this language problem. It is impossible to switch to a language other than English.
**SPECIAL NOTE**
You will need to ENABLE the Windows Update Service if you want to install additional language packs, install apps from the MS Store, or to let Windows automatically download and install drivers.
7) Does safe mode work on this version?
SuperLite builds typically (and certainly in this case) do not include the WinRE.wim file in them as it adds substantial size, and another 500+ MB partition creation and use of your HDD. So no, it is not included in my superlite builds, Find a lite build or a full build if you need it. Or a workaround, there are other ways.
8)
Is this build suitable for playing games such as warzone? - will Nvidia Control Panel etc work? Thanks!
I would love to confirm that running Warzone via Battle.net & Nvidia Control Panel on my gaming rig was a roaring success!
I love this question because it was kind of specific to his use, no one seems qualified to answer so no one was answering, he felt invisible so he tested it himself, troubleshot some issues, and eventually answered his own question.
9) Does this need drivers/driver packs?
You wil probably need to source some drivers yourself.
Get all the latest drivers for your motherboard or laptop from the manufacturer's site.
Also get all the latest drivers for other things like your graphics card and printer from the manufacturers' sites.
Get them before you install this OS.
10) If my motherboard is digitally activated, will this build do the same?
Yes, as long are the activation license for your board is the same as the W10 version you are installing.
11) How do i change the appdata username.
Before installation:
If you really want to, open the iso with 7zip, extract the autounnatend.xml file to your desktop, open with notepad, search for, and replace all instances of 'Pixel' with whatever username you desire, save the edited .xml file.
Then open the iso in PowerISO, delete the original .xml file, insert the new .xml file in the root folder, and save the iso.
Or if you already wrote it on USB, just open the autounattend.xml file there, make the changes, and save.
12) I do miss Windows Photo Viewer.
**ADDITIONAL SPECIAL NOTE**
The Classic Windows Photo Viewer is included in this build, but doesn't show up in the app selection list under default apps, unless you add this key to the registry. For those of you who would like to enable the Classic Photo Viewer, download and run this file, to fix the issue.
You must be registered for see links
Or
just scroll down in Winaero Tweaker and enable it. Done!
13) Can anyone solve this ? Some Settings are Managed by your Organization
This build is not meant to do everything stock windows does, or it would be stock windows.
Or you can run gpedit.msc and try making changes there. Fair warning: If you mess up your Windows doing this, that's entirely YOUR fault. Not mine, not FBConan's, not TeamOS'.
14) I cannot connect my two computers to each other through the same network
Go here> Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings
Scroll down to All Networks , press the arrow down button and check ( Turn on sharing so anyone with network....) save changes
15) Got some problem with mobile usb tethering
Good news. I've been working on figuring this out with
@Charlie_Grimes and was able to get it working. Look forward to the next build with USB tethering support, in fact I'm using it right now, don't even have a network adapter driver installed in windows yet, working perfectly.
16) Do you do any changes to Pagefile, Hybernation or Search Indexer? Can anyone confirm me about the "Pagefile", is it included or not?
All three are resource heavy so they are probably removed from any superlite build. If you want or need these things are you sure that a supelite build is best for you?
Also, the pagefile is not entirely removed but simply disabled. You can actually just re-enable it. If you don't know how to do that or to even Google search how to do that, you probably shouldn't be using this build.
17) I am unable to create another user.
open run command and type "lusrmgr.msc" without the quotes
18) Windows security center is disabled. does it need an antivirus?
That's up to you but I wouldn't go online without one.
19) Something change with mouse speed?
Try changing the speed in Settings > Devices > Mouse.
Also, some touchpads/mice require hardware specific drivers.
Some questions like USB installer not booting or about having no network drivers, I intentionally did not include. If you already have problems at that stage that you can't solve with a simple Google search, you will probably have a lot more trying to use a superlite Windows version.
And of course here's the hall of shame for posts that simultaneously almost made me literally rotflmao while losing all faith in humanity:
A)
VERY BAD! I spend so many time on different pcs and this was waist of time.
NO WINDOWS UPDATE and the included file is not doing anything! they didnt test it. just cut the balls and release.
B) Then there are those posts that cannot download due to their ratios, having downloaded a gajilion gigs and only uploaded like the equivalent of a 30sec porn clip.
C) Lastly:
Is this version safe to use? Im just wondering.
There are 206 posts in front of you who say yes
Are you going to ask this on every thread that interests you?
I am just wondering if it is safe to read your question.
I love how passive-aggressive the mods are when it comes to stupid questions.
If you have other questions not answered here, you might want to check out my observations and use-cases before posting a question:
