FlashBoot supports the ESD format of source Windows installation images (in addition to directly accessed ISO image files and DVD discs). And it is also fully functional in Windows XP; This is because it does not mount any registry hives, FAT file systems, WIM and VHD images through the Windows kernel. These features are implemented within FlashBoot, without the need to resort to platform-specific tools.
