Tech News Google's Nearby Share application is officially available for Windows computers

Google announced that its Nearby Share application for computers with the Windows operating system is now officially available to users.

The PC version of the application allows file sharing between devices such as Android phones and Chromebooks, it was in beta for a few months, but is now ready for use. More than 1.7 million people installed the beta and used the application to transfer more than 50 million files, mostly photos and clips.

Google has added some new features to the Nearby Share app for Windows, so users can now see the expected transfer time. Notifications will include a preview so that the user is sure that he is sharing exactly the file he wants. The company intends to add new features and cooperates with some computer manufacturers, such as HP, to include the application in their systems.

To use the application, you need to turn on WiFi and Bluetooth on the PC, and after that it is enough just to "drag" the file into the application or press the right mouse button and select the Nearby Share option to send the file to a nearby device.

If the user is logged in to the same Google account on a PC and a mobile phone with Android (tablet or Chromebook), the transfer will be automatically accepted. Devices between which files are transferred can be at most 5 meters away from each other. To prevent spam and unwanted transfers, there are options for adjusting the visibility of the device.
