It's just really confusing to me, though it still fascinates me.

Nice Share....Chess is all about looking for a weakness which you can exploit and then force matters....Force your opponent to make concessions; material, space, positional, time & the safety of king. The last time I played chess was about 15 years ago! If you like chess you should watch the Queen's Gambit, its a really good mini-series available on netflix.
