Kaspersky reports there being a backdoor. Normally I treat anti-virus alerts as false positives but it clearly stated a backdoor being detected.

Considering what kind of operations this software performs and how this stuff needs to be done, it would be more then logic that it would be recognized as malware. I downloaded it and tested files with Kaspersky, first rar, then iso, then unpacked. That is a result of the last scan.

I'll try to test again when I have opportunity. I remember it clearly stating there was a backdoor detected, may have been during the installation process.

I do believe that what you say can be true. From an AV / OS perspective this soft is not only a bad boy, it's A. Hitler of software world.
Normally a process cannot access memory space of another process, system won't allow it but this soft:
