It basically forces the "guts" of the Windows OS, to load into memory, instead of paging back and forth to disk.sorry noob here. what does this reg file exactly do? does it increase performance?
It CAN improve performance, especially in older systems. It was considered a "server hack" back in the day, to increase i/o throughput and response.
It can also do NOTHING, in machines with adequate amounts of system ram and hard drive space, especially if you use an SSD drive.
Like I said though, you can try it, and see if it increased YOUR performance, on YOUR system.
You can also cut it off, by changing the 1 to a 0 in the registry, if the "hack" doesn't seem to do anything in your system.
It's an older hack, and some claim it works great, some claim it does nothing.
I think it is more system dependent, than what people believe it is.
