Am I right that these dev versions will be replaced by newer ones? That means that your builds will be short-lived ?

I'm not trying to compare the work between these two amazing creators, just wanted to know which build is more lightweight.

What do you mean by short lived? Its normal to have new update or new release at that case also a custom build will be made soon..

Thanks for prompt reply. What I mean "short-lived" is to imply that the current build needs to be updated manually via insider channel or to be replaced by newer custom build. pls correct me, if this is side tracked. Cheers.

For real it will never expires because its always have an update thats why every time they give an update also the expiration will extend until the os will become fixed without expiration and bugs and it will be posted as public release if thats the case

Here's 'my take' on Windows 11 Dev Builds that come with an 'expiration date'.​

1) Dev Builds are great for users who want to test out the latest features MS has to offer, in Win11 22H2 Dev Builds, you will get to use / test these new features well before they make it to the public channel. It is a testing bed, so some of the features may be dropped, or kept, depending on user feedback, stability issues, usefulness, etc. etc. before going public - That means these builds may also come with stability / functional issues.

2) If you don't like to, or want to update your build, then it's probably best to avoid Dev Builds, or, accept the fact, that before they expire, you will need to install a new build of Windows to keep using your PC. For users who prefer to keep an OS installed only for a short period of time, and then move on to another, there should be no hesitation installing a Dev build with an 'expiration date' even if they choose to not update it. Personally, It's very seldom I have a build installed for more than a few months.. so for a user like me, I'm okay installing a Dev Build, and moving on to another before it expires.
- That being said, I typically install builds released in the public channel, as I prefer stability over cutting edge features - and, if I really like the build, then I can keep it installed, and never have to worry about an expiration date, even without updating the build (which I prefer not to). I have had a build that I really loved once installed for well over 3 years without updating before moving on to another on one of my PC's (thank you @Sunehildeep !) .. so.. there is that aspect to consider as well.

3) If you want to update Win 11 Dev Builds, you need to join the Windows Insider Program, and sign into your MS Account

4) New to Windows 11, you cannot join the Windows Insider program to update your build, unless you meet the minimum requirements MS has set to install / run Windows 11 on your PC. You will still be able to install this build, as those requirements are bypassed for installation / setup, but you cannot become an Insider, or update the build once installed, unless you meet all those requirements (TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, 64GB SSD etc. etc.)

That's also what I mean I'm sure microsoft will kept those new features they put in dev build its understable that people loved it until assemble to be part of public release when it's stable

You mean you accidentally removed it and you want to restore it?

To restore just run the rainmeter always and make sure the startup of rainmeter is enabled to auto run every reboot
